40 Must See Cool Short Animation Websites

with 15 comments

In our previous article State of The Art Professional Animators’ Site Graphics we presented 40 examples of the best animators’ site. In this post, however, we are going to search for an insight into this industry and we’ll analyze the newest trends in this field in terms of not only the web-design, but also the media strategy applied for most of these sites.

40 Must See Cool Short Animation Websites

We have all been to (or at least heard of) animated short film festivals. These kind of festivals have been flourishing lately due, to a certain extent, to the fact that short film animations are less available on TV or on the internet for (more or less legal) downloading but most of all because they have brought a fresh, extremely original perspective to animation in general and shown that its public is not only the very young one and that very deep and controversial subjects can be approached by these means also. This kind of festivals has also offered an opportunity to young artists that specialize in computer animation and CGI to get into the public eye, which is a more than welcome phenomenon.

Precisely because of that, in order to take advantage of the popularity that these short films have gained, most of these animators have stated to look at using the web resources as well, for promoting their work and have built spectacular sites for each of these famous short animated films. On most of them one can watch the films’ trailers and buy the DVDs with the full film and other works by the same artist.

Creating a short, catchy and funny film doesn’t seem to be sufficient any more – one must also create a web-site of equal graphic value, in order to promote it properly. Most of these sites are extremely original examples of web-design and you’ll surely enjoy looking at this inspiring collection!
