The problem with a horizontal site is, at first look, someone may not get that they have to scroll to the right. Some of these do a good job making it clear, others not so much. They present a good break from the typical, but I’m not sure I like the idea yet. Seems like more of a novelty than anything else.

Most of these websites are really good. Each of them have some nice elements… but unfortunately most of them are similar to each other.

Some damn nice sites in there. Very talented.
July 29th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
I like the look of a lot of these sites. From a users point of view they are not particulary easy to navigate and there isn’t a great deal of content on the home page making optimisation difficult. On the other hand if sites like this pick them up then they should receive plenty of organic links. I suppose it’s just a case of telling the world about your scrolling site and not relying on search engines for traffic.
cheers

Definitely a cool list. I like horizontal scrolling but think it works best for portfolios and image viewing. I wonder if some users get confused by it or if it hurts a website more than help it.

March 5th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
My brother-in-law is originally from Mexico and nevertheless struggles to speak clear English. His ESL teacher suggested that he watch American television exhibits to pick up on idioms which can be commonly utilized. He loves to Watch Frasier Online. so, every chance he gets, he borrows our laptop to do just that. My husband and I want to see him succeed in this goal so we are considering purchasing him a laptop for his birthday. He would want to buy Online access, but I believe they can afford that on their monthly budget. I haven’t addressed this with my sister yet, but hope to this weekend.

This is more than the next thing or design vanity. I believe they’re going to be huge. I agree they won’t work for everyone. But these examples prove they have a big future especially for creative types. Saw one awhile back being used by a writer and pen illustrator of children’s books. Really liked it.
