The site background should not be that detail intensive and colorfull, because is taking the attention off the important content inside the site.

Multidesign makes a valid point. In Boompa’s case, the various colorful background elements are distracting from the content. However, most of these other sites have very little, or highly structured content, so the detailed backgrounds look and work great!
