If you have a broken link on your site or the pages, which don’t exist any longer, have moved to a new server or have never existed at all, visitors will get an internal error message from the server. However, by default these messages aren’t that helpful
Whilst a well designed page can provide a means to find what they are looking for, wouldn’t it be great to display related information visitor might be interested or even redirecting them back to main page in a custom 404 page, here we have collected some 36 cool custom 404 pages just to inspire you, well not all are very informative some are simply an image or just with funny message but still it goes with the site itself..

Dailymotion.com has a good 404 page, its made by the users of the website. Try to go on http://www.dailymotion.com/jhdkajsfdsfs, and reload the page a few times to see a random video each time (there are dozens)!

it wasn’t that long ago (just last year if i remember right) that these 404 galleries would consist of pages that blamed the user for mistyping and stuff..
it’s good to see that times are changing and that sites are taking ownership for the 404s and making them more useful to the end user.. humor doesn’t hurt, either.

Nice!!! These are very clever. I’ve been a fan of the colors yellow & red (McDonalds, Carl’s Jr.) since they grab your attention. I found this Error 404 page a few months back and have been tempted to copy it……what can I say, I love sharks and laser beams!!!
